John Perkins, author of “Confessions of an Economic Hitman,” is a former Chief Economist at a leading consulting firm, where he served as an advisor to the World Bank, United Nations, International Monetary Fund, Fortune 500 companies, and influential political and business figures across Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, and the United States. Prior to this, he lived in the Amazon rainforest from 1968 to 1971, where he apprenticed with shamans. His deep connection with indigenous wisdom led him to study shamanic traditions from various cultures. His eleven books, which cover topics such as economics, shamanism, and global transformation, include the “Confessions of an Economic Hit Man” trilogy, “Shapeshifting,” “The World Is as You Dream It,” and “Touching the Jaguar.” Collectively, they have spent more than 70 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list, sold millions of copies, and have been translated into at least 38 languages.

A sought-after speaker, John Perkins has addressed audiences at shamanic gatherings, economic forums, and universities worldwide. His insights have been featured on ABC, NBC, CNN, NPR, A&E, the History Channel, and in publications such as “Time,” “The New York Times,” “The Washington Post,” “Cosmopolitan,” and “Elle.” He has also appeared in documentaries including “The End of Poverty,” “Zeitgeist Addendum,” and “Apology of an Economic Hit Man.” His accolades include the Lennon Ono Grant for Peace, where he was honored alongside Lady Gaga and Pussy Riot, as well as the Rainforest Action Network’s Challenging Business as Usual Award. John is also the founder and board member of the Pachamama Alliance and Dream Change, two organizations dedicated to environmental and social transformation.
