As many of you know, Michigan hip-hop holds a special place in our hearts here at Southern Vangard - the impact it’s had on hip-hop in the early days through today is profound. Doe also happens to be married to a Michigander - go figure. Anywho, we got hip to Grand Rapids native Sixman at the top of 2018 and played a few joints on the mix show, and had him kick things off at our #WeAreTheGard A3C showcase with Speakeasy Promotions this year. Turns out he dropped a brand new project around the same time called “The Last King,” produced entirely by DJ Supa Dave. All that on top of this gentleman has been residing in the Atlanta metro for the past 15 years or so - sounds like the perfect storm for an in-studio interview session! We get the low down on the new project, how he and Dave had no intention of making a full length when they started working together and who’s the most critical of the music they make. We also dig into Sixman’s history coming up in Grand Rapids, connecting with Willie The Kid when he was part of the group Shogun and his experience growing up around the corner from Floyd Mayweather.
