Notes:

Without authenticity we experience “less-than” in life:
- Less connected to others
- Less connected to our purpose.

No one wants to be a “sell-out” in the story of their own life

No one intends to be a “sell-out” but the slow drift of distraction diverts our attention from our purpose to “feeling better”.

How do we avoid the natural drift of distraction that can cause us to “sell-out” and miss our destiny?

“Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants, so that they did not bear grain.”
- Mark 4:7

“Still others, like seed sown among thorns, hear the word; but the worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth and the desires for other things come in and choke the word, making it unfruitful.”
- Mark 4:18-19

Be very careful as distractions can rob us of the life God has for us.

1. Anchor of His Word
2. Anchor of His Community
3. Anchor of His Cause

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”
“If you remain in me and my words remain in you…”
- John 15:5 & 7

1. Anchor of His Word
2. Anchor of His Community
3. Anchor of His Cause

…And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another…
- Hebrews 10:24-25

1. Anchor of His Word
2. Anchor of His Community
3. Anchor of His Cause

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples”
- John 13:34-35

God provides three connection anchors (Christ, Community, Cause) to keep us from selling-out to the drift of distraction.
