Canada is a wonderful place full of extremely nice people, which happens to include today’s guest! Sandra Herriot is the Acting Director of Education & Meeting Planner Events at CHMSE and the Managing Director at RPI Productions. Sandra joins host Kerri Gabris to share his tips on professional event planning. Takeaways: You want to have touchbase points to know where your clients and your team are coming from and to find the best way to support them. People tend to forget how purposeful events are and the important role that they play in an organization. As an event organizer, you want to make sure that your speaker is prepared for the rules you have and make sure that they follow them. Second chances for a guest speaker are ok but you don’t want to give someone a third chance if they keep breaking the rules. As a speaker, you need to put your ego aside and understand your audience and know that it is all about your audience. Engagement is absolutely essential as a speaker. You could have an interactive piece or a Q&A session, whatever it takes to connect with your audience. You don’t need to use PowerPoint for everything. It is old and outdated, and the audience will get bored from just reading off of slides. Quote of the Show 10:37 “Events matter. I think that is something that people sometimes tend to forget how purposeful events are.” Links LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/sandra-herriot-b7a8b6/ Website: https://youtu.be/U6ZUaylo-i0 Ways to Tune In: Amazon Music - https://music.amazon.com/podcasts/a158d222-4beb-4c72-9569-0916e79a80f4/speaking-of-events Apple Podcast - https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/speaking-of-events/id1611059542 Spotify - https://open.spotify.com/show/699re9JSEnwNXnrNLGLUkz Google Play - https://podcasts.google.com/feed/aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuc3BlYWtpbmdvZmV2ZW50cy5jb20vZmVlZC54bWw?sa=X&ved=0CAMQ4aUDahcKEwiI6PWe2o73AhUAAAAAHQAAAAAQAQ&hl=en YouTube - https://youtu.be/U6ZUaylo-i0 Speaking of Events is produced by Ringmaster, on a mission to create connections through B2B podcasts.
