On the third day of his State Visit, President Higgins gave an address to the House of Representatives at the invitation of the President of the House, Mr. Demetris Syllouris. The House of Representatives was established as part of the establishment of the Republic of Cyprus, in August 1960, with representatives from both the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot communities. However, the Turkish Cypriot seats have not been occupied since 1963 when the representatives of that community withdrew following months of inter-communal conflict. see:https://president.ie/en/diary/details/president-addresses-cyprus-house-of-representatives
