Today on the show we’re talking with Ethan Kross, an acclaimed psychologist, author of Chatter: The Voice In Our Head, and college professor at the University of Michigan.

Ethan discovered he had high emotional intelligence at a young age, when he became older he learned that many suffer from pestering and constant negative thoughts, that became his life's work to better understand this phenomenon.

Ethan is one of the world’s leading experts on controlling the conscious mind. An award-winning professor and bestselling author in the University of Michigan’s top ranked Psychology Department and its Ross School of Business. He studies how the conversations people have with themselves impact their health, performance, decisions and relationships. He is also the director of the Emotion & Self-Control Lab. His research examines how people can control their thoughts, feelings and behaviors to improve their lives.

In this episode Stephynie and Ethan discuss how to better control the self chatter that everyone commits at some point, and why it’s so important to have a “chatter advisory board” of people that you trust with your emotional well-being. They also discuss Bodyguard for Academics and how that idea came out of a fear for Ethan’s safety.
