What You’ll Hear in Today’s 15-Minute Huddle:

  • Today’s questions: What is required for a child to get an athletic scholarship (the basics)?

  • To help answer the questions, I’m joined by Bryan Drotar, of the Recruiting Code. We discuss what colleges are looking for in athletes for scholarships and how the recruiting process works.

  • The different attributes college coaches look for in student athletes.

  • How social media accounts can affect a coach’s perspective on a potential student athlete.

  • How to judge if your child is good enough to play sports in college and the other qualities that are important beyond just talent.

  • When to start marketing yourself to coaches and programs for recruitment and how to get yourself in front of coaches.

Links & References:

Bryan has coached at all levels..high school, club, and college soccer for over 20 years and from his experience he observed students and parents, when considering college athletics, mired in confusion with unrealistic expectations and making decisions with limited information. And Bryan has the heart of a coach and wants every athlete to make a decision they will not regret, so he started The Recruiting Code as a guide for parents and their athletes.
