In this (first) episode of Squiz Shortcuts we are looking at Hong Kong. It's been in the news every day for the past few months given the ongoing demonstrations in the region against what protestors see as an erosion of freedoms to China.

That's the news. In the episode of Squiz Shortcuts we'll give you the background. We'll start with Hong Kong pre-Britain, we'll then have a look at what happened during the British lease-period and then the more recent history, when it was handed back to China. Finally we'll look at how this all ties in with what is happening there now.
