Jesus, the root and offspring of David, fulfills God's promise in Ezekiel 34 for God to come and shepherd his flock. In so doing, his flock will be delivered from the false shepherds who come to steal, kill and destroy. The rule of King Jesus is like a shepherd, caring for his flock with the utmost concern. The Lord is our Shepherd! Ezekiel 34:1f. Psalm 23 I John 3:1–10 John 10:11–18 O God, whose Son Jesus Christ is the Good Shepherd of your people: Grant that, when we hear his voice, we may know him who calls us each by name, and follow where he leads; who, with you and the Holy Spirit, lives and reigns, one God, for ever and ever.
