Remote work was not prevalent 10 years ago. Remote employment was more popular during the early phases of the COVID-19 pandemic, and research has shown that it offers benefits beyond preventing disease transmission. Remote employment has revealed a treasure mine of skills from all around the world. Geographic barriers no longer hinder firms when it comes to attracting top-tier employees in this linked age, businesses can access a varied pool of skills and knowledge from many countries and time zones.
Arc discovered the opportunity to launch a brand-new remote job search platform for engineers in 2019. This platform connects developers with companies that offer remote work possibilities, allowing them to pursue careers they are passionate about without being restricted by a physical office location. We are happy to have Weiting Liu, founder of Arc, on our show to share his philosophy and disclose the inspiring stories that have led to Arc's success.
In this episode of Startup Island Taiwan Podcast, you will find out:
☛ Weiting began his entrepreneurial adventure and established Codementor, a platform for developer mentoring, in 2013
☛ COO Gauge is one of the earliest employees hired by Arc as an engineer and remains employed today
☛ Arc wants to contribute to the idea that if someone has a remarkable skill, their opportunities shouldn't be constrained by where they were born
☛ Arc encourages employees to work remotely and transitions from Wednesday's remote day to Wednesday's office day so that they are prepared for the COVID epidemic
☛ The most crucial consideration for businesses when considering whether to deploy remote workers is the time zone
