Welcome back! It's been way too long. I've haven't podcasted in a bit due to some changes. Mostly it's because I got a new job and wanted to put all my focus into getting used to that.
This is a short episode, but it hits on a few things that I found this week that interested me.
Golang 1.7 release
Golang 1.7 was released. Here's the highlights:
- No significant changes to the language
- Support for macOS 10.12 sierra
- Some other specialized releases. Z Systems, which appears to be a PowerPC based IBM mainframe.
- There are some outstanding issues with FreeBSD that they’re having trouble figuring it out.
- New compiler
- Single Static Assignment
- Go community going strong
10k Apart
A contest from A List Apart with over $10k in prizes. The channel? Build a compelling web experience that can be delivered in 10kB and works without JavaScript.
Seems like a cool competition (read very hard), with some awesome prizes. I won't be competing, but I can't wait to see what people submit.
Keuri.me
This was a neat database tool I came across. It attempts to use natural language to allow you to build queries. Try out the demo.
