I certainly would like to start this episode by wishing you all a Merry Christmas! As I thought of what kind of Christmas message I would like to give in this podcast I found myself in a quandary of sorts. I guess it’s nothing new, but each year all the Santa and gift-giving hoopla seems to be more prominent. I think I’ve decided it may be better to have two separate Christmas holidays. The traditional day of December 25 could then be called Xmas. But then be just considered the day to give gifts to others, especially children, and decorate our homes with lights and and trees. However, the traditional wreath would be deemed inappropriate for the holiday of Xmas. The wreath has too much religious or spiritual symbolism attached to it and it should be reserved for the new holiday of Christmas. When would Christmas be celebrated? I think sometime in the summer when we are easily able to travel to each other’s homes and not be distracted by such things as snow and a white Christmas. We could start our Advent calendar on, say, August 1st and celebrate Christmas on August 25! Then we could give Christmas all of the spiritual consideration that it certainly deserves.

Well, it’s just a thought. It probably wouldn’t be long before we start hearing, “you only have 90 shopping days until August 25th!”

Merry Christmas everyone!
