Hailing from Mancester England, and just as much of the "Manchester Movement" as all the big names at the same time, A Certain Ratio formed in the late 70s. A Certain Ratio has undergone several changes in membership and each album has delivered a new sound, but they are still the great "Jazz/Funk/Punk/New Wave" act who lived on Factory Records with so many other greats.

This new Album 1982 is an outstanding "Slice of the Zeitgeist" of the year 1982, but still sounding as current as their motto "Keep Moving Forward". An almost underground band, I got into them when they were tying up their tour with New Order in 1986.

Jez Kerr began as the bassist, and moved into vocals in a personel change, and has crafted the sound of a great art rock collective for 40 years now.

He recently came out as bisexual, and we discussed his reasons for why he told the world now. There is so much written about his music but very little written about him, so this conversation was a great opportunity for me.
