This episode of Stories from War Cloister is the first of two episodes looking at Old Wykehamists who served during D-Day. It tells the story of Nicholas (Nick) Somerville (I, 1936-42).

Nick also features in the upcoming book A Noble Company by Shaun Hullis. The book charts the stories of 40 Hopperites in the 1938 house photograph and their correspondence both with each other and also with their former housemaster, Malcolm Robertson "The Bobber", during the war. The book will be published in April 2024.
Stories from War Cloister is a podcast series to mark the centenary of Winchester College's War Cloister.
Each episode will tell the story of an Old Wykehamist who is remembered in War Cloister or who served during either of the two world wars.
As part of the War Cloister Centenary, there is also a programme of talks and lectures as well as a special exhibition in the college's Treasury. Details can be found on the Winchester College Society website.
The school is also undertaking a conservation project to ensure that the names of all those remembered are preserved for future generations. Details of the project and how you can support it can be found here.
For information about any of the individuals remembered in War Cloister please visit the Winchester College at War website.
