Success on the South Coast is all about shining a light on the amazing people & organisations we have in the local area.

In episode #3 I talk to Krista Cartlidge, the CEO of MYTIME Young Carers, the Bournemouth-based charity leading the fight to help level the playing field for young carers across the UK.

In April 2024, MYTIME published ‘UNSEEN SACRIFICES’, a report containing the results of their ‘first of its kind’ research which lifts the lid on the “educational disadvantages faced by young carers”.

In this episode we discuss:

• Krista’s teaching career and transition to MYTIME Young Carers
• MYTIME’s mission to “level the playing field for young carers”
• MYTIME’s groundbreaking report ‘Unseen Sacrifices: understanding the educational disadvantages faced by young carers’
• MYTIME’s three bespoke programmes to support young carers:
(i) Employability Programme
(ii) Level Up Programme
(iii) Making Memories Programme
• Krista’s advice for people considering a career in the charity sector
• Krista’s responsibility as the CEO of a charity
• Krista’s philosophy on the true meaning of happiness & success
• “Taking on the system" to achieve MYTIME's goals
• LIfe by Misadventure - the importance of learning to ‘let go’ so you can focus on “working on being a better version of you”
