Good morning!
I'm so excited to bring you my first professional artist interview. Today's guest is a colleague of mine from Florida International University art program. The video interview portion will be posted to my YouTube channel to see her new studio and artwork from her MFA show at the Frost Museum.
Brandi Long was born and raised in Miami Florida. She first became interested in art
when she was around the age of fifteen. In her early years, she mainly painted and used her
artmaking as a means of therapy. Losing both her parents in her early twenties those events led Long to rethink her perspective on life. Around this time she fell in love with the world of fiber arts. Fiber Can be a very general word that covers a multitude of techniques. Her current work is mixed media-based sculptures that highlight her connection to nature for nature. Long Recently Graduated from Florida International University in April of 2022 upon completion of her Thesis Exhibition Echo, long was awarded Berry Laird Perry Award and will be showing her "Forgotten Chapters" series next at the Roger Tory Peterson Institute in Jamestown, New York.
