Welcome back to the Sutta Meditation Series Podcast.

Recent Dhamma session via zoom with student members and friends of the Warwick Buddhist Society on "THE POWER OF AN UNHINDERED MIND", where we contemplated the five hindrances, how they are linked, why they trouble us (including weakening our memory, making it difficult to concentrate the mind and blocking wisdom), and the Buddha's medicine that we can apply to overcome them.

In this session, we covered:

  • — What is meditation?
  • — What does the Buddha say about the five hindrances and why is it important to overcome them?
  • — “Deep dive” into each of the five hindrances (including short meditation on each)

Some of the suttas covered directly or indirectly in this session:

  • — Mahācattarisaka Sutta (MN 117)
  • — Tevijja Sutta (DN 13)
  • — Akusalarāsi Suttas (AN 5.52, SN 47.5)
  • — Avijjā Sutta (AN 10.61)
  • — Nīvarana Sutta (SN 46.40)
  • — Saṅgarava Sutta (SN 46.55)
  • — Anīvaraṇa Sutta (SN 46.38)
  • — Mahāsatipaṭṭhāna Sutta (MN 10)
  • — MahāAssapura Sutta (MN 39)
  • — Ina Sutta (AN 6.45)
  • — Bhoga Sutta (AN 5.227)
  • — Āghātavatthu Sutta (AN 9.29)
  • — Āhāra Sutta (SN 46.51)
  • — Cūḷakammavibhaṅga Sutta (MN 135)
  • — Karaṇīyametta Sutta (Snp 1.8)
  • — Pacalāyamāna Sutta (AN 7.61)
  • — Samādhibhāvanā Sutta (AN 4.41)

Bohoma pin (much merit) to those who helped organise this Dhamma session.

Blessings of the Triple Gem. Theruwan saranai
