Hey everyone and welcome back to another great episode with the badass Michael “Punky” Higgs. Punky is a former Navy SEAL who retired with the rank of Command Master Chief and spent 30 years in Special Operations. Michael was inadvertently exposed to psychedelic medicines while supporting a teammate with PTSD, which led to his own profound experiences and healing with Ibogaine and 5-MeO-DMT. Michael has served as the Director of Operations for The Mission Within while also functioning as a medicine facilitator and integration specialist. He’s a member and advocate of the Veterans Mental Health Leadership Coalition and is currently the Director of Programs (San Diego) for the Honor Foundation which is a military to civilian transition program for the Special Operations community. Listen as we talk about the emotional perils of working in Special Operations and combat in general, the nuances of plant medicines for complex traumas, TBI, moral injury, PTSD and the future of psychedelics in the treatment of veterans.
