The Messenger (pbuh) was an orphan. This is a known fact. But being an orphan comes with a painful set of struggles: lack of support, lack of mentorship and nurturing and lack of guidance. Many orphans often lose their sense of direction, and develop feelings of anger, frustration and indifference. They constantly yearn for love and affection. Who was the woman that provided the Messenger (pbuh) with all the care he needed until she saw him mature to adulthood to be the incredible man he was? And how does that woman inform our awareness of the world, especially during Black History Month?
