In this episode we talk with school psychologist turned entrepreneur, Dr. Byron McClure, founder and creator of Lessons for SEL. His venture into entrepreneurship was the result of a huge gap in the literature and across products where youth of color were not represented. So he did something about it - he decided to design his own SEL (Social-Emotional Learning) lessons where youth of color (especially Black males), as well as students who are LGBTQ, homeless, in the foster care system, and from high-poverty communities could see themselves represented.
Basically, he wanted to create an SEL resource that was real, authentic, and strength-based. And that is exactly what he did. Not only did it change the lives of the students it was designed for, it changed his life too!
