      • Ribbon of metal suspended between magnets. As voice moved the ribbon, generated an electrical charge
    • Dynamic
      • Diaphragm moves from air movement (voice etc) which moves a magnet inside a coil which generates the electrical charge
    • Condenser
      • Capacitance. Diaphragm moves backwards and forward towards another plate which changes the capacitance. These microphones require power. Often phantom power
        • +48V along the same cable as the audio. Applies voltage to both signal lines equally. Audio signal is the difference between the two signal lines so does not affect the sound
