Guay, a dedicated professional currently pursuing a Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy at Converse University. With a Bachelor's in Psychology from Bridgewater State University, Jamie is a Certified Dementia Practitioner and has been a Dementia Specialist since 2006. She is the owner of Silver Lining Counseling, LLC, where she plans to offer therapy with a focus on individuals and families affected by Alzheimer's or related dementia upon graduation in May 2024. Jamie's extensive background includes roles as a Social Services Assistant in a nursing home, a Long-Term Care Ombudsman with the Appalachian Council of Governments, and various positions with the Alzheimer's Association, SC Chapter. As the Statewide Family Services Manager, she played a crucial role in educating the community, long-term care facilities, and home care agencies about Alzheimer's disease. Jamie also developed and coordinated support groups for individuals in the early stages of dementia. Throughout the episode, Jamie shares her passion for advocating for the rights of residents in long-term care facilities and providing support for families affected by Alzheimer's disease.
