Other Weekly Notes

Tim Tebow had an at-bat. Struck out looking on 3 straight strikes. Was hit by a pitch. Grounded into a double-play, but drove in a run. Not the worst day out there even though some are lambasting him for his effort.

Sergei Bobrovsky now has franchise record for most wins as a Blue Jackets goalie in one season with 35. They play at home against the Buffalo Sabres friday followed by at the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday then Monday against the Philadelphia Flyers.

The Columbus Crew started their season last week with a draw, 1-1 against the Chicago fire. They play the Houston Dynamo on Sunday.

NCAA Basketball

Ohio Northern Women’s Basketball team rolls on after becoming the undefeated OAC Champion for 2017. After defeating Lakeland (68-36) in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, the Polar Bears defeated #15 Trine (55-48) to advance to the Sweet Sixteen. ONU will host the Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight this weekend, first taking on #20 Geneseo State Friday night. Should they win that game, they would host the winner of the #10 Christopher Newport (Va.) vs. #18 Hope (Mi.) on Saturday.

Men’s NCAA

Ohio State lost in first round of Big Ten tourney to Rutgers 66-57

#14 Duke def. #10 Louisville today in ACC Tourney 81-77

Unranked TCU def. #1 Kansas in the Big 12 quarterfinals, 85-82 on a set of three free throws with 2.5 seconds left.
