This episode is dedicated to the memory of Sean's Aunt and Bill's mother-in-law Marie Murphy. Aunt Marie was very proud of being Irish-Catholic and along with her husband Jim Murphy, brought over children from the North of Ireland. I would often listen to Aunt Marie talk to my father about the troubles in Ireland. She was very dedicated to the Catholic faith. We dedicate this episode to her hope for peace in Ireland.

Mark Brennan is a Professor and UNESCO chair in community, leadership and youth development at Penn State University. He is director of graduate studies: Education, development and community engagement and cofounder:Global network of UNESCO chairs on children, youth & communities. His work has involved extensive research throughout Ireland, the US, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Central &South America.

He co-wrote a book with legendary actor Cillian Murphy (Peaky Blinders & Oppenheimer) called Ionbha (Irish for Empathy).

We talk to Professor Brennan about the troubles in the North of Ireland and his work with youth and development, his research on a possible return to violence and loss of memory harm. We have an in depth discussion on Empathy.
