In 1995, five newspapers collaborated on a relay hike of the Appalachian Trail. Bo Emerson, a writer with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution was the first reporter on the relay and began a 200-mile section of the trail that would prove to be part of a larger story about discovery, exploration and connecting with people.
