"To preserve the essence of everyday life through photographing the human condition in all of its raw beauty while reconnecting humanity with faces and their stories emphasizing hope purpose and passion while making a lasting impact" -Melies Kish

I met Melies several years back at a local park. My kids were on the playground and she came up asking about my Vibrams FIveFinger shoes. For an introvert who struggles to initiate conversation, those damn toe shoes have helped me more times over than I can count over the years ;). Anyway, Melies and I got to talking and I found out about her photography work. She told me about all of the protests she had been to, and how she had captured those moments and the people in their enlivened place in life. That got me thinking; the people behind the cameras, particularly still photographers, wield a power over society that is underappreciated largely unrealized. Photographers can literally move the barometer of society, of political power and influence, and of government institutions from behind the lens.

Melies discusses how that power dynamic plays out through the aperture of her lens, and of the responsibility that photographers have to their clients and society. We discuss her many projects including her Faces of Life project and her volunteer/non-profit work with Love Never Fails and Love Wins Now; which works to build schools and educate children who would otherwise do without.

Melies shares the various venues and niches for which she shoots and is available for hire; from wedding parties to her Together Project to her Boudoir shoots. To find out more visit http://kishphotos.com/.
