Hello and welcome to conversations from the A&F Network.

Last year Al attended the Adoption England Conference and met James Kargbo one of the founders of Replenish Culture CIC. Their vision is to support foster carers and adopters of black and mixed children to value, promote and celebrate them, their culture and identity. On a practical level that is through Replenish boxes but beyond that to use the boxes as a tool to discuss issues of race, racism, discrimination and promote positive views of the children's identity.

On this podcast we speak to James and his co founder Sarah Livingston about why they set it up but reflect on the more broader issues of race and ethnicity in the UK care system and the challenges of raising black and mixed heritage children in that context. You can visit their website here

As always if you’ve experience of adoption, fostering or special guardianship from any perspective personal or professional and would like share that on the podcast please get in touch through the Facebook page, the app formerly known as Twitter or email us at AandFpodcast@gmail.com
