Meet Dr Wendy Okolo,a Nigerian-American aerospace engineering researcher in the Intelligent Systems Division at NASA Ames Research Center in Silicon Valley, conducting research and leading cross-functional teams in aerospace vehicle flight safety and controls optimization.
At 26 years old, she became the first black woman to obtain a Ph.D. in aerospace engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington.
She is also the first female recipient of the NASA Ames Early Career Researcher Award and an advocate for and expert in diversity, equity, and inclusion in STEM.
In this fun conversation, she tells us about her childhood, her curious mind that led her to mind-blowing opportunities, the importance of a solid community and not holding back your knowledge but sharing and mentoring as many as you can.
Despite all this success in the US, Dr Okolo is still a proud "Naija Babe" raising the Nigerian flag higher and higher.
In this conversation, you will be inspired by her "go - getter" mindset and you too will never take no for a final answer.
Enjoy, like, comment and share!
