1 John 5:13-15
(13) I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. (14) This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. (15) And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.
Set up: This passage is the perfect opportunity to be in awe of God and inspired by Him to approach Him with confidence, and boldness of speech, I think of it like asking your honor may I approach the bench. The judge says if you must, YET God leans in and can’t wait to hear our request like our father.
We are His children, and often we ask God for too many chocolate chips in our pancakes. Our wants overwhelm our needs, and we forget who we’re talking to.
We are talking to God.
Who is more than we could ever imagine.
