(7) Be patient, then, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains. (8) You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord’s coming is near.

The next few Sunday’s we are going to be talking about patience in suffering.

James shifts the focus from perpetrators to the persecuted.

Last week we talked about those who were causing the suffering, the RICH

And this week we are looking at those who are going through suffering.

James condemns the faithless wealthy, and comforts the faithful poor.

So he encourages these believers to remain faithful and be patient.

Why? Because they were probably wondering why doesn’t the Lord come back and rescue them.

Life was hard, they had been exploited, ripped off, and killed without remorse.
