In times of crisis, we as the family of faith are not meant to just sit back and watch the news, relying on our government to tell us what to think. The things taking place in the U.S. should be a catalyst, transforming peoples’ attitudes toward God and each other. We need to look back to America’s past Great Awakenings, and see how God has used his people in the face of crisis and unrest. Kirk reminds listeners that we don’t just get saved by Jesus and then wait passively on earth until we reach the Kingdom; instead, we must deal with our own hearts in the here and now, and bring heaven to earth. If our hope is for the family of faith to be governing ourselves and keeping a covenant with God, then we need a revolution to take place in our hearts. If you are hoping for another great awakening to take hold of America, ask God to use you and open your eyes to your role in history, and ask Him to bring about an army of compassion that will permeate society.
