Doug Meyer joins Natalie on the podcast to discuss the release his book of Heroes: A Tribute. The book grew out of a traveling exhibition, which included 3 shows in New York, Miami and Los Angeles. "In 1981, Doug Meyer lost a dear friend to a mysterious new disease we now know was AIDS. Over the next few years, Doug went to seventy-nine funerals. In HEROES, Doug pays homage by way of portraiture to 50 innovative pioneers from the worlds of art, design, film, and dance, who were some of the first victims of AIDS and AIDS-related diseases. Among these individuals whose lives are celebrated in HEROES are Robert Mapplethorpe, Keith Haring, Alvin Ailey, Gia, Rudolf Nureyev, Freddie Mercury, Rock Hudson, Tina Chow, Klaus Nomi, and Halston."
