The CDC has established the Office of Public Health Data Surveillance and Technology (DST) to improve data exchange with federal, state, and local agencies, and non-governmental partners. Utilizing AI, DST automates processes, faster threat detection, and generates fact sheets for professionals and public consumption. Director Jennifer Layden highlights the importance of setting AI guidelines for privacy, biases, and protocols. Multidisciplinary teams are encouraged to ensure effective use of AI. The CDC also partners with academic and private institutions to enhance public health analytic capabilities. Shared tools and best practices promote collaboration and efficiency across agencies.
