Adam Moeller joined me to discuss how to manage greens in 2024. We talked about his research at Purdue University on sand and bentgrass and coring and N rates, and about clipping volume and OM246 testing and how we might manage turf and look at sands today.

This post got the Doublecut introduction, about how to figure out an estimate of N harvest from clippings, and how to systematically adjust N rate based on turfgrass growth ratio: https://www.asianturfgrass.com/post/growth-ratio-nitrogen-harvest-and-fertilizer-adjustment/

Adam's website is https://www.moellerconsultingllc.com/

He posted this chart on X showing a particle size distribution curve: https://x.com/AdamMoeller/status/1756301012392960446

Here's another example of a curve from the PACE Turf gallery: https://www.paceturf.org/gallery/detail/s-curve-with-sand-particle-size-of-topdressing-sand-and-om2-sand

We discussed the 2016 article with Todd Lowe on Managing Organic Matter in Putting Greens and the sand topdressing recommendations in that article: https://gsrpdf.lib.msu.edu/?file=/article/moeller-lowe-managing-11-4-16.pdf
