Have you ever eaten an "Impossible Burger"? They do a pretty good job of making plants taste like meat, but why do they call it Impossible? Because meat has heme. Heme is the molecule that gives blood its red color and helps carry oxygen in living organisms. Unlike other plant-based burgers and meats, it was thought to be impossible to make it look and taste like real meat. So no matter your carnivore or vegan status, you could be fooled that the burger you are eating is meat. in business, we have all been fed a lot of "Impossible" meals. You often see ads or hear sales pitches that promise results that should satisfy our business sales hunger. It's not a lie if it only works for some businesses. It's a half-truth. We have all been fed these meals when it comes to sales and marketing. Today I want to explore some of those "Impossible" half-truths that often hamper our success when marketing our businesses online. These include: Cookie Cutter Competition Your Website Is A Bro (sure) Traffic Trumps Trust Ads Add Profits Social Media Sells Spending End Of Year Budgets - Many corporate clients have annual budgets. When I worked in corporate, we had to spend the rest of our budget before the end of the year. If we did not use it all, it often would lower our budget in the coming year. Do your clients have money that has to be spent before the year ends? New Year Positioning - New years mean new beginnings. Often businesses like to promote new products or services to kick off a new year. Does anything you provide clients offer them a way to help position them as new or innovative to start out a new year? So how can you maximize your opportunities to stay top of mind and help your clients achieve their end-of-year or end-of-quarter goals? You can nudge them along by providing them with marketing that promotes ideas while reminding them of the time crunch.
