Samwu inks above-inflation wage agreement in the water industry

A one-year pay agreement for a 7% raise for workers in the water sector represented in the Amanzi Bargaining Council was reached by the SA Municipal Workers' Union (Samwu). The growth exceeds the 5.2% inflation rate that was noted in April and May. The agreement between SA's water boards and Samwu, the largest municipal union that represents over 160,000 of the country's almost 300,000 municipal employees, is in force from July 1 to June 30, 2025. Talking about this arrangement with host Motheo Khoaripe is Papikie Mohale the national media officer.
