Slavery in the Bible can be a really difficult topic to wrestle with. The First Testament approves of harsh treatment of slaves, Jesus doesn't talk about it, and the New Testament apostles seem to take it for granted as well. What are we supposed to do with this troubling issue?

Understanding the Bible's redemptive movement on the institution of slavery requires a different kind of interpretive lens. Alex and Glenn discuss the Redemptive Movement Hermeneutic and how it sheds light on Scripture's subversion of slavery.

William Webb's books on the Redemptive Movement Hermeneutic:
Slaves, Women, and Homosexuals
Corporal Punishment in the Bible
