It’s been a busy couple of weeks for the Bike Nerds - Sara got married and Kyle is on vacation. Never fear, though - we’ve got a top notch episode featuring Lane Santa Cruz from Tucson, Arizona. Lane and Kyle spend the first part of the episode discussing Lane’s doctoral studies looking at systems of education and the inherent bias and racism that exists within them. They discuss why representation matters (in the classroom and elsewhere) and education serving as both a tool to overcome and as an actualized form of oppression and systemic racism. Finally, they transition to how the lessons of our educational system relate to our work as bike advocates.
