This week, Sara and Kyle are joined by Roshun Austin, Executive Director of The Works, Inc., a community development corporation operating in South Memphis. Roshun speaks to how community-driven planning expanded the original mission of providing affordable housing and pathways to homeownership for South Memphis residents to programs working to provide options for healthy eating, aging in place, and childhood education. Roshun tells the story of learning to ride a bike just two years ago and how issues of transportation, access, and mobility have become central components of her work in South Memphis. Sara and Roshun take on an extended metaphor which offers equal parts dating advice and community development philosophy.
