Nursing homes have been the ground zero of the COVID-19 pandemic. Of the more than thirty thousand people who have died from the virus in New York State, more than six thousand were of residents in nursing homes and adult care facilities.
Saddened and angered by the loss of their loved ones, surviving family members are looking for justice and to hold nursing homes accountable. In this episode of The Blame Game, we try to answer the question of who’s to blame for the catastrophic loss of life that has taken place in nursing homes and adult care facilities during the pandemic; and whether these facilities can be held legally responsible for their failure to protect residents from the ravages of COVID-19.
