This guy is street smart, emotionally intelligent, and business savvy. And Slater is a damn good surfer. As a young man, a he was dominant competitor in NSSA events and later on a charger in big wave venues such as Mavericks -- both free surfs and competitions. On top of all that he displays a genuine humility that is sorely lacking in today’s “look at me” social media culture.
