Ed Sheeran is the latest in a long line of well meaning folk, to put the boot into Band Aid's song, Do They Know it's Christmas? For its condescending lyrics. Prompting its co-writer Bob Geldof to fire back at "an abstract wealthy-world argument". The lyrics, near written on a beer mat over a couple of days, were never meant to be examined as a treatise on Africa for the next forty years. They were written on the fly to inspire or guilt trip the British record buying public of 1984, to provide immediate aid to starving people. It led to Live Aid pumping hundred of millions of aid into one of the worst famines of the century. This is why we can't have nice things.
