You’re new to teaching, but you already feel like you’ve been on the job for years. You’re exhausted, stressed out, and feeling overwhelmed by everything you have to do. You’re not alone. Many first-year teachers experience burnout during their first year of teaching. In this episode, I interview Burned-In Teacher member and student Jadah, a first-year teacher who didn’t want to become part of the statistic of first-year teachers who quit and used what she learned from the Burned-In Process to combat her first-year teacher burnout. Before Jadah even stepped into her classroom, she recognized that she was already being affected by burnout through the narratives she was being told and what she thought she had to accept as a new teacher. Jadah explains how she was able to find the first-year teacher support that she needed to no longer feel burned out from teaching and learned how to create sustainability in a career that she loved.
