When you bump into a great coach, former basketball player and master coach, Ian Stacker, at LAX airport whom you have met once or twice before, why not pull out your dictaphone and record an interview for The Coaching Podcast? Apologies for the background airport noise but this episode is well worth the background noise, Ian explains that great coaches are adaptable (as well as having a plan but be ready to adapt your plan), and convince the people you are coaching that you have great faith in their abilities (a reminder that Practice 2 from What Makes a Great Coach is BELIEF).

Ian Stacker is one of Australia's most highly qualified basketball coaches. He has the highest possible accreditation awarded by Basketball Australia as a Master Coach. He has coached in all areas of the game and was most recently Head Coach of the Australian Institute of Sport's Men's Basketball Program.

While at the AIS Ian utilised the magnificent sports science support available to investigate methods, techniques and training programs to make a significant difference in the development of shooting in Australia.

Ian is an Australian former professional basketball player and coach. Listed by the NBL in 1983 as 181 cm and a guard, he had an eight-year playing career before becoming a successful coach in the National Basketball League, winning the NBL Coach of the Year in 2000 and 2003 with the Townsville Crocodiles.
