In this episode, Pam Larkin, Chicago-based mental health practitioner brings the gift of her courageous and calm presence as she addresses questions around grief, loss, and collective trauma. Pam discusses the ways our communities have changed and adapted during the pandemic and shares invaluable advice about what to do post-pandemic with relationships that have been lost or paused. Pam also reflects on both adaptive and maladaptive ways people have coped with the stresses and trauma of the last 12 months and does not shy away from answering my questions around collective trauma caused by the pandemic as well as collective racial trauma, suggesting powerful pathways for expression and healing.
Grief and trauma, both individual and communal, are all around us. This conversation helps bring that reality into the light and imagines healthy steps forward, for both individuals and communities who are trying to follow Jesus while navigating the painful realities of society and culture.
