This week on The Corner Blitz we have our annual sit-down with Brookhaven High School Tennis Coach Becky Green as she tallies up yet another line on her state champion spreadsheet. This time it's two pairs of doubles winners - Allie Grace McNeil (SR), Annie Stewart (8th), Caroline Kilpatrick (JR) and Cohen Leggett (FR). That was Caroline's THIRD state championship in tennis. To close the program we had a talk that was way more fun than we thought it would be - Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks Black Bear Program Manager Anthony Ballard, who told us everything we needed to know about the species in Mississippi with not one word about black panthers (thank God). We also discussed the brutality of playoff softball and baseball, estimated how long it would take the University of Alabama's college board to close the UAB football program again if they went on strike (light speed) and, once again, shared our disillusionment at the trajectory of college football.
