In today's episode, we chat with Alan Rousso.

Alan's early career took him from academia to Russia where he became the head of the prestigious Carnegie Moscow Centre. From there he moved to the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (or EBRD) in the UK where over 20 years he made a significant contribution as a senior leader.

He is now working as an executive coach where he combines an emotional intelligence from his own journey with his understanding of what it takes to develop individuals, learnt from three decades as a leader.

Alan brings a clarity and self-awareness to a riveting conversation as he takes us through his journey, including:

  • Turning his life around in his late teens
  • The value of humility in pursuing your ambitions
  • ‘Initially refusing the call’ - twice in major moments in his career
  • The importance of doing what you say you're going to do
  • Life in Moscow and seizing the opportunities that feel uncomfortable
  • How developing your team ultimately develops you
  • The creative act of pursuing a new chapter in your career
