India kickstarted their Super 8 campaign with a comfortable 47 run win against Afghanistan. Winning the toss and opting to bat first, India were dealt early setback in the form of captain Rohit Sharma’s wicket. However, Kohli and Pant steadied the innings before SKY & Hardik stitched another crucial stand. In response, Afghanistan needed its openers to fire but with Jasprit Bumrah and Axar Patel being on the money in their very first overs, Afghanistan were left stuttering right at the start. India continued to build pressure and in the end it proved to be too much as Afghanistan crumbled to be handed a loss.
