Welcome to the first episode of "Coaching in Qatar" podcast series, recorded in March 2023 at the Doha International Referee Camp in conjunction with the Qatar Basketball Federation. The staff, comprised of experienced clinicians from Europe, Asia, and America, collaborate to train approximately 40 different officials. The process includes not just theoretical presentations but also practical, on-court applications where officials' performance is observed, followed by detailed and constructive feedback sessions.⁣ ⁣ This episode notably emphasizes the importance of patience and precision. Our discussions focus on the timing and necessity of calls, encouraging officials to consider the influence of contact and to allow plays to develop and finish before making decisions. We advised on technical aspects, like hand signals and the use of the whistle, as well as better communication strategies, such as using definitive language to ensure clarity in decision-making. Moreover, the episode touches on the significance of responding proactively to players' inquiries and demands during games. The insights from the podcast highlight the balance officials must strike between control and flow of the game, demonstrating the complexity and skill required to 'serve the game' at a high level. We hope you enjoy!⁣ ⁣ ❤️𝗝𝗼𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆⁣ Patreon.com/crownrefs⁣ ⁣ 📷 𝗙𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝘂𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗜𝗚⁣ https://instagram.com/crownrefs?igshid=OGQ5ZDc2ODk2ZA==⁣ ⁣ 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝗽 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗲⁣ https://sideline.bsnsports.com/schools/new_york/hartsdale/crown-refs⁣ --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/crown-refs/support
