Here are the first 5 takeaways from the show:

1. Motivation is actually intrinsic and powered by autonomy, competency, and relatedness

2. You can build relatedness and focus on relatedness as opposed to social, then you can build a team that never has to meet in person.

3. Team building activities It helps to have someone or a piece of software to facilitate. Have a topic or theme to talk through or a game. Icebreakers can be used by taking the first 5 to 10 minutes to share something simple about themselves or play a quick game.

4. Work isn’t about having a strong social relationship with someone, it’s about having enough of a relationship with them that you can trust them. So when you feel like someone is competent and you have a relationship with them you can begin to trust them.

5. Having autonomy, competency to do the work you are assigned and relatedness to your team or co-workers are also connected to preventing burnout.
